I made some new friends today. Better than that though I became an official member of the Taco Bell Drawing Club, New York Chapter. See:
It was fun drawing, people watching, and hanging out with new people. I borrowed my picture away or else I would have put it up here, just know it was real cool. Jason Polan is sort of the leader, though I don't know if he has an official title. He has a lot of cool projects underway.
I also wandered over to check out the Fall '07 Hey Hot Shot opening, which I failed to get into. I met Carlo Van de Roer, one of the winners and had a good talk with him about conceptual photography. There is talk of some kind of photo club, which would be really great, but it will have to wait until after the holidays.
Over all it was nice to get out and talk with people about art and the different things that they are doing. It is reassuring to hear that other people, who are doing good things, are also faced with rejection, lack of responses and other disinterest. Better than though was to know that success does come, often in unexpected ways. I am still waiting for more of that. It is also good to have more awesome stuff to look forward to.
